Villas for sale in Koh Samui

A private pool villa is what most buyers picture when they think of Koh Samui, and it is still the heart of the island’s property market. What changes from one listing to the next is almost everything else: whether the house sits on a hillside above the sea or a few minutes’ walk from the sand, whether it is finished and furnished or still a set of drawings, and how the land underneath it is held.

The villas we present range from compact one and two-bedroom homes in new, gated developments to large family houses on established plots with long views over the Gulf of Thailand. The north-east corner around Choeng Mon and Plai Laem has the widest choice, close to the airport and the island’s schools and hospitals. The north coast, from Maenam to Bang Po, is quieter and more residential, while the east coast between Chaweng and Lamai keeps the island’s restaurants and shops within easy reach.

Ownership deserves as much attention as the view. Foreigners generally cannot hold Thai land in their own name, so most villas are sold with the land on a registered lease and the house owned separately.
